Moulanaal-Hajj Allama S.S. Muhammed Abdul Qadir Baqavi (reverently known as Uthamapalayam S.S. Hajarath) was an illustrious Islamic scholar, versatile author, and towering literary beacon of 20th-century Tamil Nadu. Renowned for his humility and saintly demeanor, he traveled extensively across Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, the Philippines, and the Arab world with just a humble cloth bag, pen, and notebook.
Hajarath dedicated his life to Islamic literature in pure Tamil. He spearheaded the defense of authentic Islamic traditions, authored pioneering texts including works on Imam Ghazali and Umar Farooq (R.A.), and contributed alongside Allama A.K. Abdul Hameed Baqavi. He produced the monumental comprehensive 7-volume Tamil commentary (Tafseer) of the Holy Quran spanning over seven thousand pages, establishing an enduring intellectual legacy for generations.
